ROOD LANE SHINING THE LIGHT

Rood Lane worship areaRood lane has been shining the light for Jesus since it opened its doors for worship on Wednesday 12th January 1887, but its beginnings were 28 years before when in 1859 a day school stood on the site of the present church.

We've now opened our doors again for worship since Easter Sunday, with Marlene and Elizabeth keeping everybody Covid safe. Everybody was very excited to be back even though there was social distancing, face masks, no singing, no cup of tea and no social chat afterwards!

Rood Lane preacher Harold MellorOn 16th May Harold Mellor led the service and we could listen to the hymns There is a Green Hill Far Away, What a Friend We Have in Jesus and O Love of God. Harold talked to us about shining the light for Jesus. It was a joy to listen to Brenda Booth playing the piano at the start of the service.

ROOD charity sums raisedAs soon as the Covid restrictions allow, we are really looking forward to commencing our charity fund raising activities again. In 2019 we raised £4,265.

This work provides a valuable part of our church life alongside the love and fellowship that is always on offer. Watch this space for more updates!
