Holmes Chapel Methodist Church have made a commitment to become a Dementia Friendly Church. Small adjustments have already been made to the building to make it a more suitable and welcoming environment for those living with Dementia and their carers however our major project has been the launch of the ‘Memory Cafe’.
|The Memory Café, launched in September, had a busy morning as visitors enjoyed coffee and cake whilst chatting and reminiscing at ‘themed’ tables.|
The Ukulele Band came to entertain and lead a good sing along to familiar songs. A good time was had by all and we hope people will continue to come and enjoy the company, activities, chat, along with their cup of coffee. Information is available to help and support those living with dementia.
The Memory Cafe will be open on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10.00am to 12noon.
Holmes Chapel Methodist Church’s initiative to become a Dementia Friendly Church inspired the Holmes Chapel Partnership to make their next project, ‘Holmes Chapel, A Dementia Friendly Village’. Holmes Chapel Partnership consists of a number of volunteers who organise events and projects for the benefit of the whole community and our Church is pleased to partner them in this project.
If you can offer to come and lead a sing along of well known songs, offer an activity or make the cups of coffee, we would be delighted to hear from you.
